Some of us might thought that we as mother, knows everything about looking after kids and knows about playing with kids. After attending the 2nd day of Pre-school learning, there are lots to learn about. This course, not only do we do the theory, it's also a hands-on one. Last week, we explored play with blocks and construction equipment (played with bricks, legos and blocks)while playing with bricks and blocks, kids are experiencing hand eye co-ordination, fine mother skills (eyes and hands movement), imagination, communication, language, sharing, interacting, socialising, concentrating, experimenting, problem solving, balance, distance.

Today, we explored sand and water play. We played with water, cornflour, sand, icing sugar, washing up liquid, rice grain, cous cous, lentil, food colouring. Kids experience textures, being tactile, smells/colours/objects, experimenting / problem solving (eg. adding water to cornflour to make the mixture thick or thin, etc), measuring / pouring, sharing / co-operating, talking / socialising, confidence, conquer a fear, dexterity (fine motor skills) & FUN!

Same thing as in our every day life. We could be 10, 30 or 80 years old, no matter how old we are, we are always learning, we learn from our kids, our colleagues, friends, family. No matter how old we are, we are always learning. Similarly, as Christians, whether we've been 2, 20 or 30 years as a Christians, even Pastors, Leaders, Sunday school teachers, etc, we are all learning from God. Not only learning from the bible, but from our behaviour, our lifestyle. Sometimes or everyday, we pray and ask God to grant us patience, but next, we shouted at our kids, our husband or our mum and dad or argue and quarrel with siblings or husband. We also pray and ask God to grant us journey mercy, but we drive like a maniac. We should sit and think what we prayed and did. Most or some of us has a "standard" prayer, did we ever think and remembered what we prayed? I confess and admit that sometimes I don't. I prayed my "standard" prayer and add in prayer items, but that "standard" prayer, is probably a everyday thing. In Singapore, when we were at primary, secondary school and college, every morning, before school, we sing the national anthem and say the pledge. National anthem is in malay languague and starts with Mari kita ya, ya Singapura..... and our pledge starts: We, the citizen of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion...Although we were told of what the national anthem meant, but don't think we still remember that. Don't know why I am typing this, probably a soul searching thing for me and maybe to some of you. Hope it helps you to think about your everyday prayers.
